COMFORT AND COMPETENCE The Explorer has been one of our best-selling bikes, ever since its introduction in 1982. Originally designed as a mountain bike, the Explorer has since evolved into a very practical and very comfortable sport comfort bike. Inspired in part by our Hudsons and Citizens, without sacrificing the versatile on or off-road competence of the original Explorer, the newest generation Explorer is all about getting the most fun out of the ride, in STYLE, with performance and comfort features that make getting around so effortless it hardly feels like exercise. LIGHTWEIGHT ALUMINUM When it comes to recreational riding on a so-called comfort bike, nothing gets more uncomfortable faster than having to pedal more weight than necessary. SIDEWALK ADVENTURER Everyone remembers their first bike; the combination of freedom and fun. That bike needs to be fun, comfortable and safe, which is why Laser 16 features a lightweight aluminum frame, removable training wheels, and BMX-style handlebars and saddle. LIGHTWEIGHT ALLOY FRAME Extra weight is the enemy of any bike. This is especially true for youth bikes, when the riders themselves are relatively light-weight. It’s tough to beat the cost-to-weight ratio of aluminum, which is why Laser 16 features a lightweight 6061 aluminum frame. TOP FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW Our lightweight & durable aluminum Laser frame is easier to pedal than steel. The 20” Laser actually offers two types of brakes: a standard rear coaster brake, which most youngsters are familiar with, and a rear V-brake which many are not. Having the rear coaster brake as a back-up, allows youngsters to get used to hand-braking without going cold-turkey on the coaster brake they are comfortable with. Our alloy rims are anodized black to provide even greater corrosion and rust resistance than the alloy already possesses. Before wheels are laced and trued, the rim sidewalls are ground to provide a smooth braking surface for the rear V-brake. We build the Laser 2.0 wheels with 36 spokes in a 3-cross lacing pattern for a strong & durable wheel. Then mount knobby BMX tires that bite in the dirt, but also feature a rounded profile that rolls smoothly on neighborhood streets & driveways. Every Laser 2.0 offers a kickstand for parking that pride & joy up securely, and a safety bell to announce that the Laser has arrived.

TOP FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW - The full-length & full ring-wrap chainguard on Miss Daisy keep clothes & legs cleanly and safely out of the way of the chain. Those attractively painted fenders keep the rain & mud off the bike AND the rider and look cute to boot. - Our soft and comfortable foam grips feature a smooth vinyl cover that is embossed and stitched to match the saddle & decal theme. - Those wide Brooklyn Speedway tires offer a large contact patch for greater stability, with a smooth tread surface for easy rolling, and hold plenty of air volume for a more comfortable ride. - Our pedals offer a non-slip insert that keeps feet and shoes in full contact even when wet for safe & secure pedaling. - Every 16" Miss Daisy offers stabilizing training wheels that assist the young rider in learning how to pedal, steer and balance a bike for the first time. We focus on designing frames with low stand-overs to take much of the awkwardness out of getting on board and dismounting after. We trim as much weight as we can with lightweight aluminum frames on many of the youth models and use aluminum parts where possible (the limiting factor here is working within a youth-bike-appropriate price point) to work towards that make-it-as-light-as-possible goal.
